ARTIST

Internationally recognised and award-winning London-based photographer Nur Tucker captures the horse through a refined interplay of movement, light and form. Her images celebrate the animal’s innate grace and power, revealing the beauty, freedom and spirit that have made the horse an enduring subject of art and culture.

Nur Tucker is a multi-award-winning British-Turkish photographer whose practice encompasses underwater, equine and landscape photography. Her work is united by a deep connection to nature, with water and horses recurring as defining subjects throughout her photographic practice.

After more than two decades working as an investment banker in London, Nur left the financial world to pursue her longstanding passion for photography. Having first begun exploring underwater photography around two decades ago, she developed a practice that took her from the depths of the ocean to the landscapes and countryside where she photographs horses.

Her photographic work has received international recognition, including Master Photographer of the Year at the Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year 2021, Most Promising British Underwater Photographer of the Year at UPY 2020, and a United Nations World Oceans Day award. Her work has also received multiple distinctions from the Underwater Photographer of the Year, Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year, the British Society of Underwater Photographers and the Royal Photographic Society.

Alongside her underwater practice, Nur has developed a particular fascination with horses. Often photographing them in their natural environments and alongside water, she approaches the horse with the same sensitivity to movement, light and atmosphere that characterises her underwater work. Her images capture not only their physical beauty, but also their individuality, strength and connection to the landscape around them.

This relationship between land and water lies at the heart of Nur’s practice. Whether immersed beneath the surface with her camera and SCUBA equipment or navigating muddy fields in search of the perfect equine image, she seeks moments in which nature, movement and instinct converge.

Nur lives in London with her family and continues to pursue her photography across both land and water.
